Hi everybody,
I don't know why but all the interfaces' status of switches in the network have been changed to "Interface Disappeared". Does anyone have any idea in this regard?
I am using version 10.0 of NPM.

Hi Team,
I just passed my SCP exam today few hours ago. Thanks Gerry and team for your support.
I didnot get any SCP number/Certificate id though. Kindly let me know when will I get the ID and also about the hard copy of my certificate.
Thanks again team.

I've been playing around another idea:
To manually set the secondary IP Address of each machine as a Custom property, and then use it in the HTTP Monitor on my template.
It's still very "manual", but saves the time it takes to drill into the HTTP Monitor inside the template of each node and bypass the ${IP} macro.
However - I can't seem to get SAM's HTTP Monitor to use this custom property as a macro variable.
Am I missing something, or is it simply not supported?
I have Windows XP SP3 machine that I cannot get the 3rd party cert installed on. I can do everything else I need to the machine, but I cannot install the cert. This cert is working fine on hundreds of other machines. When I run the Client Certificate Management tool I receive the following results from the task:
Client Certificate Management
Object: CN=WSUS Publishers Self-signed
Status: Failed
Details: NotFound Not found
Has anyone else seen this issue before?
Thanks.
You hit on a huge one- false alarms, or frequent alarms because too much is being monitored. It's easy for a system to devolve into visual noise and alert overload, and then it runs the risk of being ignored.
SNMP is a wonderful, sometimes maddening management protocol. It can provide monitoring, powerful trending, and alerting when things go wrong on the network. But too much of anything can be bad, and SNMP is no exception. When not properly managed, SNMP itself can become problematic.
Most seasoned network admins buy into basic best practices like disabling SNMP when not in use on host devices, changing strings occasionally, and using ACLs to control who can use SNMP so resources like router CPUs don’t get DOS’d by the very protocol meant to manage the environment.
But sometimes other SNMP-related issues creep in when we get sloppy. It’s easy for multiple admins to set up eval copies of SNMP-based config management or monitoring software without coordinating the polling cycles of each. Or to perhaps set up a special monitoring instance that’s meant to use SNMP to help pinpoint some specific problem, without implementing common-sense safeguards (like we don’t want to SNMP-read our core routing tables every 10 minutes). Worst, these tools are easy to put in place and forget about, which means our SNMP traffic can get out of hand and become problematic.
Is your own SNMP house in order?
Thanks, I'll check this out!
I will do my best to answer.
As I was discussing before, may make sense to discuss offline on your planned deployment strategy and we can discuss how all the parts can and cannot work together.
Our biggest issue is educating our admins. There is one particular admin that it took us clsoe to six months to break her of setting up SNMP with Public as the community string.
We had several battles with some uneducated admins in our TSA...I mean data security about SNMP, but were able to educate them on ACLs, and other simple securing steps.
I'll use a GUI all day long, but there are some things a GUI isn't and scriptable is one of those things that it isn't. I'll even admit that I've come across a device with a scripting system but no CLI. Even then, it was still missing something valueable... Output and the ability to parse the output as part of the script.
Actually, I think Rharland2012 said it better... "When those things aren't necessary, a well-crafted GUI is the perfect tool in the box"
To me the CLI is only good for scripting and batch files.
The SolarWinds UX (User Experience) team is looking for people who have only been using SolarWinds NPM for 6 months or less who are interested in spending an hour with us to get a sneak peek at some revised design ideas for reporting on the web.
If you have used NPM for 6 months or less and have an hour to give us between 7am and 11am Central Tuesday, June 25th to Thursday, June 27th, we want to hear from you! Not only will you get an opportunity to influence future development of NPM, you will also get 2,000 points in the thwack store which you can use to buy t-shirts, caps, and other SolarWinds swag.
Don’t worry if you’re not the most sophisticated users on thwack. We’re really looking for noobs for this, so if that’s how you would describe yourself (as long as you’re someone who would be creating reports as part of your job), then we want to talk to you!
To sign up or learn more, contact kellie.mecham@solarwinds.com directly by sending me a private email. Thanks!
We don't have a lot of devices, but I would say that no, we're not 100% organized here in regards to SNMP traffic. I'm not even sure how much is too much to be honest, but so far with several admins running network inventory/discovery polls in half a dozen different packages, we haven't had any issues yet.
At some point, I'd like to get around to tracking just how much traffic is being generated but considering the size of our network it really hasn't become an issue yet.
Then we want to hear from you! We're looking for new users who can walk through some flows for web reports and tell us what you think. Space is limited and we have room for 3 one-hour sessions. We’re really looking for noobs for this, so if that’s how you would describe yourself (as long as you’re someone who would be creating reports as part of your job), then we want to talk to you!

What commands are you needing to run?
It is only possible to set the color of the group. All calendars for a given group will show up with the groups color.
